Mo’men operates a chain of restaurants under the brand names Mo’men, Pizza King and Planet Africa. The company also produces frozen foods and ready meals under the ‘Three Chefs’ brand.
Sherif Elkholy, Actis investment principal in Cairo, said, ‘Given the changing population demographics and the increasing wealth of the middle classes, the company has a clear opportunity to expand to meet this demand. In Egypt, Actis has previously invested in food company El-Rashidi El-Mizan, which it exited in 2007. The firm is also currently invested in marble producer and exporter Sinai Holding International, in which Actis invested in 2007.
Earlier this month Actis, alongside Emerging Capital Partners, exited its investment in Nigerian mobile telecommunications operator Starcomms.
