A fantastic opportunity has arisen at a leading entrepreneurial bank for a Private Equity Consultant.
Overall Responsibilities:
Current portfolio of investments:
Liaise with portfolio companies on a regular basis and monitor performance.
Attendance of board meetings.
Identify the requirement for corrective action and work with executive management to implement required changes.
Preparation of regular performance reports to the Investment Committee and Board of Governors.
Negotiate and conclude corporate actions executed by portfolio companies, on an ad-hoc basis.
Negotiate and implement exit transactions.
New investments
Source investment opportunities.
Continually build a network of sources of new deal flow.
Evaluate new leads with a view of concluding an investment.
Construct financial models to evaluate and motivate potential new investments.
Structure and negotiate private equity transactions.
Prepare proposals for the Investment Committee motivating new investments, as well as presenting the potential investment opportunities to the Investment Committee.
Implement private equity transactions.
Reporting:
Regular reporting to the Investment Committee and Board of Governors.
Various Group initiatives.
Statutory Secretarial:
Ad-hoc and ongoing responsibilities relating to the existing portfolio and new investments
Skills Required:
2-3 years experience in a private equity / corporate finance environment
Relevant tertiary qualification (Required: CA(SA); Advantage: MBA, CFA)
Up to date knowledge of accounting standards, relevant legislation, and regulatory environment
Experience in briefing legal advisors and concluding legal agreements

On the Real Effects of Private Equity Investment Evidence from New Business Creation by AlexanderUsing a comprehensive database of European firms, we study how private equity affects the rate of firm entry. We find that private equity investment benefits new business incorporation, especially in industries with naturally higher entry rates and R&D intensity. A two standard deviation increase in private equity investment explains as much as 5.5% of the variation in entry between high-entry and low-entry industries. We address endogeneity by exploiting data on laws that regulate private equity investments by pension funds. Our results hold when we correct for barriers to entry,general access to credit, protection of intellectual property, and labor regulations.
